High-Level Group on Business Services

Andy Neely was the rapporteur for the High Level Group on Business Services which helps to define a European policy agenda for this sector. He wrote a report published this month by the European Commission with recommended actions along several lines – prioritising business services in the Europe 2020 strategy, completing the Single Market for services, seizing the international opportunities and developing the skills and infrastructure needed by European companies. The recommendations are issued to the Commission, member states and industry.

Rare-events classification: An approach based on Genetic Algorithm and Voronoi Tessellation

The paper was accepted at 'The 22nd Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD)', a leading international conference in the areas of knowledge discovery and data mining (KDD). In this paper, Mohamed and co-authors propose a novel strategy for data mining based on partitioning of the feature space through Voronoi tessellation and Genetic Algorithm, where the latter is applied to solve a combinatorial optimization problem.
