We are pleased to announce that Benjamin Biesinger has had a paper published in the Journal of Service Management.
The article "Value-in-Context for Digital Servitization" provides insight into the mechanisms by which value is created and appropriated across different manifestations of industrial service ecosystems and digital platforms.
The core argument is that value in digital servitization is not static; it becomes contextualised in two ways:
1. Through contextual value aggregation, as value expands across actors, applications and contexts
2. Through contextual value evolution, as roles and business models change over time
For companies, this means the challenge is not only to provide advanced services and servitized offerings. It is also to enable interoperability, learning and data use across contexts and to actively manage how value develops over time.
This work with Marcus Jensen, Filoumena Zlatanou, Qi Zhang, Ghasem Zaefarian and Stephan Henneberg started with a research workshop at the Cambridge Service Alliance forum "Shaping the Future of Service Management"
